NGC 1491

This is a small emission nebula in Perseus. The nebula only measures 3 arc minutes across.  I stumbled across this object

while doing my supernova search in November of 1999. It's not terribly interesting visually but packs quite a punch through a CCD camera.  Emission nebula are normally seen as red or pink. Indeed, this one is.  But there was a great deal of data in the green layer and I brought that out to show more detail.
This nebula reminds me of a bad toupee or a clump of moss.
