M74 in Pisces
|
M74 is a fine example of a classic spiral galaxy. It spans 100,000 light years and is 62,000,000 light years distant. This makes it a relatively close neighbor. Only in large amateur telescopes can the observer detect its spiral arms. CCD equipment helps us see this in grand fashion.
