During 1997 and 1998 we were treated to one of the most spectacular displays of a comet in our lifetimes.? Comet Hale Bopp shined brightly for many months as a naked eye object.? Many of us with telescopes enjoyed the comet for several months before and after its visit.?

| With the 18" reflector, I could see the jets and swirls of the core.? I remember one night with our TAC observing group where we watched the comet? set early in the evening and watched it rise before the sun tailfirst over the mountains of our observing site.? An event like this brought out many new astronomers.? I hope we see another |
